Hello, Chicago Families. Thank you to everyone who responded to the 2011 Programming Survey. Your input will help us define and implement programming to better meet the needs of our member families. As promised, here are some of the key findings: - 85% of respondents would like to come to the Playhouse 2-3 times a month; 50% would be willing to help out in other ways (such as hosting groups, fundraising, etc.)
- Education-based programming is the single-most important offering for member families.
- Weekends are the best time for programming, followed closely by after-school hours.
- There is a strong interest in family socialization opportunities, such as weekend Open Play.
The next step, naturally, is to put your responses into action. Here's what we're planning to do: - Starting April 3, we'll be launching a biweekly Open Play on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Beginning this summer, we'll align our session-based programming (all except Open Play) along the same 8-10 week calendar, with four sessions throughout the year.
- Next fall, we'll launch a Skill Builders (writing, arts, etc.) or Math tutoring program in addition to Literacy.
- We'll increase community outreach to further extend member base, particularly in the Spanish- and Polish-language communities.
A big thank you to our board vice president and head of programming Kim Hanna for crafting and analyzing this survey. If you have any ideas or suggestions about how to implement our actions, please feel free to e-mail her. |
