| Dreaming of Midsummer Nights Having taken on one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies with "Romeo and Juliet" last year, our Teen Drama Class is now focused on one of the Bard's most noted comedies,"A Midsummer Night's Dream." Our teen thespians (and their program leaders and volunteers) have been at it since January, working through the text, learning about the characters, and auditioning for their favorite roles. And now they're ready to show off at our second annual spring performance. This year's performance will take place on Saturday, May 19 at the Neo-Futurarium (5153 N. Ashland). Doors open at 4:30, with the one-hour performance starting promptly at 5 p.m. Tickets are free, but we are requesting a $10/person donation to cover program costs. Space is limited (and we expect to sell out), so reserve your seats now by clicking on this link. In advance of the performance, we could use some volunteer assistance. Anyone interested in helping with set construction, painting, costume making and/or volunteering at the event is encouraged to contact us at chicago@gigisplayhouse.org. We also have a number of supplies and materials needed to complete our set design; if you'd be interested in donating materials (or gift cards to help purchases), please contact the Playhouse for more specifics. | | | Don't Forget: Our Mountain Adventure! Jayme has a (nearly) 5-year-old niece, Dorothy, with Down syndrome in Cincinnati. "She's just like her father," Jayme says. "She loves music. she goes to St. Rita's school for the deaf and learns sign language." Jayme chose GiGi's Playhouse as her charitable designee because of the work we do in her local community. The next time Dorothy visits her aunt in the Windy City, we hope they'll stop by. |
